CREB1
cAMP responsive element binding protein 1
Pathway candidate — not linked to PFS or PSSD by any record here
Gene summary
A protein-coding gene on chromosome 2 (cell signaling and transcription factors). Encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the leucine zipper family of DNA binding proteins. This protein binds as a homodimer to the cAMP-responsive element, an octameric palindrome.

Protein reference (UniProt)
- Protein
Cyclic AMP-responsive element-binding protein 1
- Function
Phosphorylation-dependent transcription factor that stimulates transcription upon binding to the DNA cAMP response element (CRE), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters (By similarity). Transcription activation is enhanced by the TORC coactivators which act independently of Ser-119 phosphorylation. Involved in different cellular processes including the synchronization of circadian rhythmicity and the differentiation of adipose cells (By similarity). Regulates the expression of apoptotic and inflammatory response factors in cardiomyocytes in response to ERFE-mediated activation of AKT signaling (By similarity).
- Subcellular location
Nucleus.
- Associated conditions
Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH).

Why its pathway is in the library
General signaling/transcription machinery; no direct post-drug-syndrome link established for most members — included for completeness of the panel.
Written for the whole signaling & transcription family, not for CREB1 specifically.
Mentioned in 0 corpus records
No corpus record names CREB1 directly yet. It is in the library because it sits in a pathway the corpus tracks (Signaling & transcription).
