HTR6
5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 6
Pathway candidate — not linked to PFS or PSSD by any record here
Gene summary
A protein-coding gene on chromosome 1 (neurotransmission). Encodes a protein that belongs to the seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor family of proteins. The protein couples with the Gs alpha subunit and stimulates adenylate cyclase to activate the cyclic AMP-dependent signaling pathway.

- Protein
5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 6
- Function
G protein-coupled receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone and a mitogen. Also has a high affinity for tricyclic psychotropic drugs (By similarity). Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors. HTR6 is coupled to G(s) G alpha proteins and mediates activation of adenylate cyclase activity. Controls pyramidal neurons migration during corticogenesis, through the regulation of CDK5 activity (By similarity). Is an activator of mTOR signaling.
- Subcellular location
Cell membrane.
- Tissue specificity
Expressed in several human brain regions, most prominently in the caudate nucleus.

Why its pathway is in the library
Monoamine, GABA, glutamate, and cholinergic systems are the direct pharmacologic targets of SSRIs/SNRIs (PSSD) and the downstream effectors of neurosteroid signaling (PFS).
Written for the whole neurotransmission family, not for HTR6 specifically.
Mentioned in 0 corpus records
No corpus record names HTR6 directly yet. It is in the library because it sits in a pathway the corpus tracks (Neurotransmission).
