NFYA
nuclear transcription factor Y subunit alpha
Pathway candidate — not linked to PFS or PSSD by any record here
Gene summary
A protein-coding gene on chromosome 6 (cell signaling and transcription factors). The protein encoded by this gene is one subunit of a trimeric complex, forming a highly conserved transcription factor that binds to CCAAT motifs in the promoter regions in a variety of genes. Subunit A associates with a tight dimer composed of the B and C subunits, resulting in a trimer that binds to DNA with high specificity and affinity.

Protein reference (UniProt)
- Protein
Nuclear transcription factor Y subunit alpha
- Function
Component of the sequence-specific heterotrimeric transcription factor (NF-Y) which specifically recognizes a 5'-CCAAT-3' box motif found in the promoters of its target genes. NF-Y can function as both an activator and a repressor, depending on its interacting cofactors. NF-YA positively regulates the transcription of the core clock component BMAL1.
- Subcellular location
Nucleus.

Why its pathway is in the library
General signaling/transcription machinery; no direct post-drug-syndrome link established for most members — included for completeness of the panel.
Written for the whole signaling & transcription family, not for NFYA specifically.
Mentioned in 0 corpus records
No corpus record names NFYA directly yet. It is in the library because it sits in a pathway the corpus tracks (Signaling & transcription).
