STAT5A
signal transducer and activator of transcription 5A
Pathway candidate — not linked to PFS or PSSD by any record here
Gene summary
A protein-coding gene on chromosome 17 (cell signaling and transcription factors). The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators.

- Protein
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 5A
- Function
Carries out a dual function: signal transduction and activation of transcription. Mediates cellular responses to the cytokine KITLG/SCF and other growth factors. Mediates cellular responses to ERBB4. May mediate cellular responses to activated FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Binds to the GAS element and activates PRL-induced transcription. Regulates the expression of milk proteins during lactation.
- Subcellular location
Cytoplasm; Nucleus.

Why its pathway is in the library
General signaling/transcription machinery; no direct post-drug-syndrome link established for most members — included for completeness of the panel.
Written for the whole signaling & transcription family, not for STAT5A specifically.
Mentioned in 0 corpus records
No corpus record names STAT5A directly yet. It is in the library because it sits in a pathway the corpus tracks (Signaling & transcription).
