UBE2E3
ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 E3
Pathway candidate — not linked to PFS or PSSD by any record here
Gene summary
A protein-coding gene on chromosome 2 (cell signaling and transcription factors, general physiology). The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s.

Protein reference (UniProt)
- Protein
Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 E3
- Function
Accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. In vitro catalyzes 'Lys-11'- and 'Lys-48'-, as well as 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitination. Participates in the regulation of transepithelial sodium transport in renal cells.
- Pathway
Protein modification; protein ubiquitination (By similarity).
- Subcellular location
Nucleus; Cytoplasm.
- Tissue specificity
Ubiquitously expressed at low levels. Highly expressed in skeletal muscle.

Why its pathway is in the library
General signaling/transcription machinery; no direct post-drug-syndrome link established for most members — included for completeness of the panel. Established roles outside the core post-drug-syndrome pathways; no direct PFS/PSSD link established — included for completeness.
Written for the whole signaling & transcription / general physiology family, not for UBE2E3 specifically.
Mentioned in 0 corpus records
No corpus record names UBE2E3 directly yet. It is in the library because it sits in a pathway the corpus tracks (Signaling & transcription, General physiology).
