AVPR2
arginine vasopressin receptor 2
Pathway candidate — not linked to PFS or PSSD by any record here
Gene summary
A protein-coding gene on chromosome X (neuroendocrine and peptide signaling). Encodes the vasopressin receptor, type 2, also known as the V2 receptor, which belongs to the seven-transmembrane-domain G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, and couples to Gs thus stimulating adenylate cyclase. The subfamily that includes the V2 receptor, the V1a and V1b vasopressin receptors, the oxytocin receptor, and isotocin and mesotocin receptors in non-mammals, is well conserved, though several members signal via other G proteins.

Protein reference (UniProt)
- Protein
Vasopressin V2 receptor
- Function
G protein-coupled receptor for arginine vasopressin, an antidiuretic that promotes renal water reabsorption. Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase (cAMP). AVPR2 is coupled to G(s) G alpha proteins and mediates activation of adenylate cyclase activity.

Why its pathway is in the library
Peptide-hormone and related signaling modulates sexual function, stress, and behavior — symptom domains prominent in PSSD/PFS.
Written for the whole neuroendocrine signaling family, not for AVPR2 specifically.
Mentioned in 0 corpus records
No corpus record names AVPR2 directly yet. It is in the library because it sits in a pathway the corpus tracks (Neuroendocrine signaling).
